जैसा कि हम सभी जानते है 24 सितम्बर को हम विश्व सफाई दिवस के रूप में मनाते है।सीधी सच्ची बात है कि सफाई सभ्यता का अंग है।जब तक हमारे घर,द्वार और रास्ते गंदे रहेंगे,हमारी आदते गन्दी रहेंगी तब तक हम अपने आपको सभ्य और सुसंकृत नही कह सकते। गाँव की गलियाँ गन्दी है,सड़को के किनारे गन्दे है,इतना ही नही,आज जीवन के हर क्षेत्र में गन्दगी प्रवेश कर गई है।दूषित मनोवृत्ति और दूषित वातावरण के रहते,भले ही लोगों का धर्म और दर्शन कितना ही गौरवपूर्ण एवं प्राचीन क्यों न हो,उन्हें कोई सम्मान नही दे सकता। श्रेष्ठता और संस्कृति का पहला गुण स्वच्छता है। हम साफ और स्वच्छ रहकर ही अपने आदर्शो एवं सिद्धान्तों की रक्षा कर सकते है।
सफाई प्रकृति का एक मौलिक गुण है।स्वच्छता और पवित्रता धर्म का प्रमुख अंग माना जाता है तो उसका सही-सही ज्ञान भी होना आवश्यक है।शिक्षा और संस्कृति के साथ सफाई का स्वास्थ्य से भी अटूट सम्बन्ध है।
